It's been awhile.....
It's been awhile since I've last posted. So many things have happened and are happening, most good, some not quite so. I spent 7 weeks in Salt Lake City tending 3 of my grandkids, who are such a delight. I became "Maw" to the 2 year old because he couldn't quite say "grandma" and "maw-maw" to the 5 year old. What a crew this is! My son is the apple of my eye. He's changed into quite a young man in the last 6 years. My daughter-in-law is precious to me. We're quite a lot alike, so sometimes we had a silent spat, you know, one of those, "I'm right, you should know it, so act like you do" sort of spats. Nothing serious, just a typical head butting of 2 strong-willed females under the same roof. Never-the-less, I love her dearly. She'd croak if she knew that I wrote that she's alot like me. Hehehe!! It was hard as heck being away from my husband for that long. I realized (again) that I love him more than life itself and don't want to be apart from him...ever!! The first time was when we moved to KY. I moved here 2/2008 and he didn't get here until 5/2008. He stayed behind to get the house finished that we were trying to sell and to finish his job there. Oui! What a rough few months!
One of my neices got married May 30th. She's such a sweetie, cute, intelligent...a lot like me....just kidding!! I've reconnected with 2 other nieces and 3 nephews and it's been pure heaven in that regards!
The garden got a late start, but it's in full bloom right now, takes lots of work but is so rewarding. Just can't wait to get started canning and dehydrating fresh veggies.
I am deciding whether or not to participate in this fall's craft fairs. Right now, finances are a little tight, so entry fees are a little tough to come by. Decisions, decisions, decisions!!
So, I spend my time learning new homesteading skills and making do here on the acre that God has given us. More later.

About Me

- Hi Folks! My name is Candy and I have been married to my best friend, my one true love, Steve, for 11 years now. We are a combined family with 7 grown kids and 14 grandbabies. Our children are all over the US; Illinois, Louisiana, Utah, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii. We are proudly owned and operated by an ever growing menagerie of animals: parrots, parakeets, cockatiels and cockatoos, dogs, cats, chickens, and 2 rabbits. We have a huge garden in the summer, planted fruit trees and grape vines last year, can food from the garden, sew, quilt and make our own soap. Needless to say, we live in the country, have an avid interest in homesteading and how to make it do-able on a small acreage plot of ground. We've had alot of successes, a couple of near misses and a couple of "really missed the target" in our venture and look forward to sharing them like-minded folks.
