Comfrey Salve #2 (antiseptic)

2 Cups olive oil
1/2 ounce dried confrey leaves
1/2 ounce dried lavendar leaves
1/2 ounce dried calendula leaves
1/2 Cup beeswax

Add dried herbs in a crockpot and pour in enough of the olive oil to cover about 2 inches above the top of the herbs.

Turn crockpot on low and allow the herbs to heat approximately 5 hours. Stir only once during this process to evenly distribute the herbs and oil.

Strain the oil through a strainer lined with cheesecloth into a quart bowl. Carefully squeeze excess oil from the cheesecloth into the bowl. Try not to get pieces of the herbs into the infused oil.

Melt beeswax in the top of a double boiler. (I use a clean can that I've scrubbed and rinsed with bleachwater). Add oil to the beeswax until it reaches a desired consistency.

Store in a tightly lidded jar. Label with contents and date made. May be applied to sprains, strains or bruises. Do not use on open wounds or take internally.

About Me

My photo
Hi Folks! My name is Candy and I have been married to my best friend, my one true love, Steve, for 11 years now. We are a combined family with 7 grown kids and 14 grandbabies. Our children are all over the US; Illinois, Louisiana, Utah, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii. We are proudly owned and operated by an ever growing menagerie of animals: parrots, parakeets, cockatiels and cockatoos, dogs, cats, chickens, and 2 rabbits. We have a huge garden in the summer, planted fruit trees and grape vines last year, can food from the garden, sew, quilt and make our own soap. Needless to say, we live in the country, have an avid interest in homesteading and how to make it do-able on a small acreage plot of ground. We've had alot of successes, a couple of near misses and a couple of "really missed the target" in our venture and look forward to sharing them like-minded folks.
